Told in real-time, Hijack is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, while authorities on the ground scramble for answers. The story protagonist, Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), is an accomplished negotiator in the business world, who needs to step up and use all his guile to try and save the lives of the passengers – but, his high-risk strategy could be his undoing…
Unfortunately, the sequence was not used after being commissioned and delivered but what is displayed here is the final vision from the team at Territory studio.

After initially exploring a sinister take on an aeroplane interior as a creative route, we changed tact to try using radar and cartography to tell this story. We merged digital radar and paper contour mapping to create a concept that we pushed into the abstract. The product of this exploration is a flyover of rocky textured tiles with an e-ink style, which in turn slide to make way for text reveals and the title typography.
I was brought onto the project to assist with various 3D and 2D tasks which include designing a variety of navigation maps, design layouts, titles and compositing throughout each shot in the sequence.
